Custom content types are supported by App Analytics… WOOT!
We here at App Analytics understand that no application is the same, so we are making App Analytics as flexible as possible. And that means you now create you own tracking types. We even create a short cut in the content area so you can get direct access to data.
What is a custom type?
A custom type is something specific to your application that you would like information on, like user preferences, selected options and anything else you wan to know. For example you might have a twitter application and you want to see how many tweets are being sent. Just add a custom type ‘tweetsent’ in the App Analytics web interface and every time a successfully tweet is sent in your AS3 code track your custom type “tweetsent”. You will now be able to see how many tweets you are sending. You can make any type you want and track it into our system.
Find out how to add a custom type to your application.
Read MoreApp Analytics 0.03.2 Release Candidate SWC
As you may have seen on our support forums there heave been a few bugs found in App Analytics. A big thanks to finding most of these goes out to Brady White from http://www.notesync.com/, which by the way is a sweet App that you should take a look at.
From these errors that cropped we had to tweek the App Analytics swc to solve most of these bugs.
So as of now there is a new release candidate SWC in the downloads test section of the web interface. This shouldn’t go into live projects just yet. But please do use it in your test projects.
SWC Fix Details:
- Unique application miss track fixed
- App Analytics connection poll now set to every 30 second
- Very rare install initialization issue fixed
- Clear debug messages added for debug mode.
Also while I have you I might as well remind you of some of the major the features under development.
- People Management
We are adding the ability to add your team to an account. This will allow you to collaborate more as a team instead of sharing the same details. Also there will be user privileges so you can control who can do what. - Custom Types
We here at App Analytics understand that no application is the same so we want to make App Analytics as flexible as possible. So we are going to allow you to create as many custom tracking types as you heart desires. We even going to create a short cut in the content area so you can get direct access to data. - Geo Location
Give you the ability to find out where in the world your application is being used. App Analytics currently tracking all that information it just inst visualized yet. So when it is up and running you will be able to see all the way back to when your app was first tracked by App Analytics.
We think this will be of huge value to you for example you may find out from App Analytics that your application was used more in France than any where else, it would make sence to release a French language pack for your app. This is information that has been previously unavailable you that could make a huge impact.
App Analytics announces the open beta release of App Analytics
Yes it has been a long time coming and we thank you for all you support along the way. But the day is finally here. We are still rolling out improvements and still have some more coming in the next few days. But we a excited to announce effective immediately App Analytics is in open beta.
Press Release:
For Immediate Release: App Analytics announces the open beta release of App Analytics
Location: http://www.appanalyticshq.com/
Date: 28th April 2010
App Analytics is the leading native Adobe AIR tracking & reporting solution for applications developed using Adobe’s AIR Development platform. With it’s simple integration, clean interface & powerfully rich insights App Analytics is now moving from closed Alpha testing into Open Beta testing.
App Analytics has been in invite only testing by over 200 top Adobe AIR developers, the move to an open beta allows anyone to register and begin to use App Analytics to monitor the usage of their Adobe AIR application. Closed testing of App Analytics over the past 6 months has seen the solution mature from a simple idea to a scalable robust solution tracking over 5 million items. Paul Sanderson, founder of App Analytics, said “We have learned a lot from the initial launch of App Analytics. We have steadily tired to improve App Analytics with the help of our users, we are very proud of the result” he also went onto say “unlike other analytics systems out there App Analytics has been built from the ground up with application tracking specifically in mind. So there features and reports in App Analytics that you cant get from a web analytics package”
Born out of frustration at the lack of reliable, robust tracking options for Adobe AIR applications, App Analytics is developed by a team of developers and product managers, for developers and product managers. This means all features of App Analytics are simple, quick and allow users to quickly and easily implement and start reporting on their Adobe AIR applications. “When we were developing App Analytics we asked ourselves what we wanted for our own AIR applications, what do we want to know about the App & the users interactions. The process then is very simple, if we wanted or needed it we built it into App Analytics”.
Adhering to an agile and rapid development methodology, App Analytics will continue to mature as more users interact with App Analytics, as requirements grow, the development team will continue to refine, polish and push the boundaries of Adobe AIR tracking and measuring. Beta users can expect to see new features rolled out on a regular basis.
