There goes 6 Million
We have just passed the 6 Million item mark. Yes that means App Analtics now actively tracking more than 6 million items around the world and that number is still growing fast.
I would just like to take time out to say thanks to all those who have helped get us to this point as with out your feedback and support we would have been able to grow to this point.
Thank you.

Hi, I have just completed my first screencast.
I go though the process setting up App Analtyics in an AIR application. It literally only takes a few minutes to be tracking real analytics from your AIR application to App Analtyics.
Thanks Paul

So over the last few weeks we have been busy architecting, planning and developing the next version of Air Analytics. We posted a few sneaky screen shots here if you missed it.
The next release is still a few weeks away but don’t worry we will update you with release dates closer to the time. The new release is a huge leap in a new direction for Air Analytics and web applications in general.
We have also made some minor tweaks to the web interface over the last few weeks. A few bugs were fixed that you guys brought to us and also the caching issues that some of you reported have been fixed as well. Thanks again for your feedback and keep it coming.
P.S we are so really close to cracking the 1 million items tracked barrier. WOOT
On another note I also got engage to my lovely girl friend in Denmak last weekend. Which I have to say that I couldn’t be more stoked about. YAY Im glad she said yes… :)
Changes to Air Analytics when Open Beta Arrives
Yay… is all I can say. I am so excited about the upcoming open beta, it is one huge step in the right direction. But before this happens in a few weeks I would like to take some time out to talk to you about some changes that will be taking place in Air Analytics.
- Tracks Limit: A track limit per month will be introduced, this is just to make sure that we can keep the data sizes manageable while we are testing out the systems and making changes to them. The limit only applies to data that you decide to track in your application, installs, usages, and other system related data will not count towards your monthly limit. The track limit will be of a substantial size and will still enable you to gain insight into you application, this is an analytics package after all.
- Application Limit: We will be limiting each account to only have 2 applications per account, again this is to ensure that we provide the best service while we are in the beginning phases of the open beta. These limits will be loosened as we head towards the end of the beta.
- Software as a service: We are going to have a crack at the software a a service approach to running Air Analytics in beta. As you all know Air Analytics is a small start up with huge ambitions and it would seem that you guys like what we are doing. So with that in mind we need to get Air Analytics to cash flow neutral position in terms of hosting and bandwidth costs. So what we are proposing is that there will be selling some select advertising spots on Air Analytics, just to cover the hosting costs. Why do such a crazy thing? Well it save us from having to charge you to use Air Analytics which we think is a bit unfair while we are in a beta, but on the other hand we need to help minimise the hosting bill.
I(Paul) wont be taking any money from the possible advertising, I’m happy to do this for free for the being. So any money made over that of the hosting cost will be plowed back into Air Analytics
The advertising will also be limited to only a few selected positions throughout the site. - Investors: Air Analytics will be actively looking for venture capital investors to help take Air Analytics to the next level. When we successfully receive investment we will look at removing the “software as a service” approach. If you or you know someone/company who maybe interested please get them to contact us.
We would love to hear you opinions on the points above, if you like them, if they “grind your gears”. Please lets us know as you guys are the most important, without you Air Analytics is nothing.
Read MoreBye Bye Web Browser
A decision huge ground breaking has been made….. Air Analytics will move a way from the web browser. Yes Air Analytics stats interface will become an Adobe AIR application.
Why are we talking this crazy talk.
- Speed, Speed and more Speed: By making the application a desktop client it will help keep Air Analytics tracking snappy and fast. As most of the heavy lifting such as graph generation and analysis will be done by the desktop app, thus creating a lighter server loads greatly, improving response time and maximising performance.
- Live data stats: Yes we will be able to deliver you stats in real time to your desktop. None of this waiting for hours to see what is happening. This means you can make a change to you app, deploy it and see the results instantly Cool huh!
- Innovative features: We can add features that would not normally be unavailable to a web applications such as offline capabilities, desktop notifications and so many more that the mind boggles with possible features.
- Greater Developer Support: Create features that allow developers to actively find and trouble shoot bugs in the application.
- API: Because we are exposing public methods to be used in our application we will also expose them to the public which will also enable other developers to create Air Analytics widgets/apps
- Don’t panic: we will still have a web version but is capabilities will be limited compared to the desktop application.
In the mean time just keep using Air Analytics as normal we will keep you updated as we progress along.
Remember Beta Testing is Not for Sissies: Air Analytics is under beta testing development. There will be downtimes. There will be problems. There will be a great number of successes due to your detailed feedback and help. Be patient with us. Only download and use the latest versions if you are code savvy and willing to provide the input we need to improve Air Analytics.
